Bio


Dr. Johnson is visiting the UA Philosophy Department for academic year 2017-2018.

Educated at Oxford University, the University of Gloucestershire and the University of Virginia, he has taught 40 courses at seven universities and colleges. He has held teaching posts in three areas: philosophy, religious studies and general humanities.

Philosophy courses taught: Introduction to Philosophy, Aesthetics, Philosophy and Creativity, Ethics and Critical Thinking, Ethical Theory, Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Self, Philosophy of Love, Philosophy of Psychology, Philosophy of Religion, Studies in Philosophy and Religion: Intellectual Atheism, Understanding Socrates, Understanding Plato, Understanding Aristotle, Augustine’s Philosophy, Kant’s Philosophy, Studies in German Idealism: Hegelian Metaphysics, Introduction to Existentialism, Introduction to Postmodernism

Interests: Ideas of insight, intuition, immediacy, implicitness, and imagination
